At Muso's Stuff we have what we call a fair price policy and that is that we will sell you an item at a fair and competitive price. We do not give you a guarantee that we will be the cheapest.
If price is the only thing that matters to you then you probably aren't our customer. But if you are a shopper who wants good value then we are your type of business. Not everyone will get this, I am outlining it for the people that do.
Do you realise that most of these pricing guarantees are a marketing ploy designed to create a perception. You see, often perception is everything, if people perceive a shop is the cheapest then the idea is that they must be. By offering a guarantee it gives the customer a sense that they are getting the best deal. Does that mean you can't ask us to match a price, of course not? We are always more than willing to go as hard as we can to win your business. In the end the only way we pay the rent, wages, the electricity bill, donate to the hospital fund and give items to schools to auction off is to make a profit. In an age when the retail sector is under incredible scrutiny because of the nature of the internet and that we are now players in a global market it is getting increasingly hard to turn a sustainable profit. Unfortunately we will continue to see our retail sector become even more impersonal and corporate this will be to the detriment of our communities.
For people who argue that is an un-avoidable movement, do not understand the roles that a shop plays within their community. It is not just a place where money and goods change hands, for thousands of years it has been about community. Yes, the corporate global world is changing this, the internet is challenging this, but in the end it is about working out what do I want my community to look like in 2, 5, and 10 years time. It is my choice to invest my money however I choose, but I also realise that how I spend my money will shape my future in many more ways than I can ever imagine.
