Mike Clugas - Custom Bass -

Mike Clugas - Custom Bass

Attention collectors.

1986 Bass made by Mike Clugas in UK under watchful eye of Ashley Pangbourne for the 86 UK and New York Music fairs - we believe Mike was Ashley Pangbourne's apprentice, Ashley being one of the finest Luthiers in the UK at the time who made custom basses for Mark King from Level 42 and John Entwhistle (The Who) amongst others.

The super-thin shape reflects the Warlock shape that Pangbourne and his apprentice specialized in and that was made famous by Mark King in the Level 42 heyday. This was one of the first active basses on the scene.

Owned for many years by Chris Townsend (now residing in Australia – Chris was a session player in the UK and the States in the early-mid 80's whose most notable work was with Cutting Crew (Died in your Arms tonight).

The Bass was de-fretted by the Bass Centre in Melbourne in 2003 and has a classic 80's 'thin' funk sound with a top end that absolutely 'sings'. Incredibly light profile with a inlaid M batbass logo in the headstock.

Price: $2,000.00(inc. GST)
