We are very excited to announce that once again we will be conducting a summer school program here at Muso’s Stuff in January 2015. The previous three years were very successful and so we are advertising early this year in order to get the program organised in time.
I’m not a drummer, so everything you read from here on is based purely from a guitarist’s perspective.
I watch drummers all of the time and I see all levels of quality. My benchmark for whether they are a good drummer or not is two-fold, firstly, can they sustain a groove and secondly can they play the Rosanna shuffle? Ha I hear you say that’s a high benchmark. yes it is, don’t get me wrong, if a drummer can lay down a tidy groove, that’s usually good enough. But if they can play the Rosanna Shuffle anywhere near as good as Jeff Porcaro, then – respect!!! VIEW FULL ARTICLE

One of the great things about music is the sense of connection and community it creates. People from all different walks of life coming together to share a common language and a common love. Of course this isn’t just about music but about the person or people you meet along the way that share something of themselves with you and it stays with you for ever.
For those 100 people who wandered out the back of our humble store that night in April 2010 to sit with the late, and indeed great Bob Brozman that experience will live on with them forever. VIEW FULL ARTICLE
I’ve gathered together a collection of tips from interviews with the best guitarists in the world. As well as some of my own. Some you’ll find useful, others you’ll be amazed at. Hopefully you’ll get some inspiration from it.
No. 1 Slash is an amazing guitarist it goes without saying, but you may be surprised to know that he doesn’t have a comprehensive knowledge of scales. in fact he says he knows “. . how to play major, minor and pentatonic scales all the way up the neck, but that’s about as complicated as I get.” So don’t stress to much about your lack of theory its not everything! Its a common condition that many guitarists suffer from, they start off at a reasonable output level but as the gig/rehearsal goes on they get louder and louder. Stop it! I’m a guitar player and I use a 20 Watt valve amp with a single twelve inch speaker. VIEW FULL ARTICLE
